Amani Tiwi, a beach side resort, is located in Ukunda on the south of Mombasa, or South Coast as we call it. A nice drive through the Kenyan countryside from Mombassa straight south towards Diani Beach and Tanzania unveils this little pearl of a beach resort deep in what seems like a wildness.
After a relatively short flight from Nairobi, we jumped a cab to take us to south coast. Now for any Kenyan visiting south coast, the non-stop traffic in town, the long line to and from the ferry and the hours seemingly lost in the heat, is a hassle we are all accustomed to. For M, it was an entirely different case haha.
My first real impression of Amani Tiwi was the reception area. Done in crafted wood and warm tones of orange it gave a truly warm welcome. A quick check-in later and with a refreshing cool drink in hand, we were led to our Amani room.
The first thing we obviously did was take a walk to check out the beach. But with a hard-to-miss truly magnificent pool, it’s kinda understandable we took a short detour. The pool really does deserve special attention. In several levels with gentle waterfalls in between it stretches the entire length of the resort with little scenic bridges and resting areas along the way.
If nothing else. Amani Tiwi is worth it, simply to float along the endless pool in the sunshine and enjoy life to the full.
With five restaurants and 4 bars, dining experiences are perfect for any and all occasions; from fine dining to light lunches beside the pool. Evening entertainment varies, but my most memorable evening was when a talented dancing troupe performed a routine for us. After much hollering and clapping (and a shit load of wine), i obviously joined them!
Beyond the resort itself comes the main attraction: The beach. The Amani Tiwi beach resort has sun loungers, service on the beach and restaurants right on the waterfront for everyone to full enjoy the sun and the sea. Endless hours can be spent catching sun and enjoying the fresh air from the sea in the golden sand.
If you wish to add to your trip to Amani Tiwi with more experiences there are trips to be taken to the main resort town of Diani Beach which features a wide range of bars, clubs and restaurants. Aside from that you can book trips to Masai Mara, visits to explore local village life, boat trips out onto the sea and much more.
Overall, the Amani Tiwi beach resort may seem a bit isolated when you first arrive, but it certainly catches your heart along the way with wonderfully friendly service, plenty of activities and new interesting food themes every night, to but name a few of the many luxury perks of spending your holiday in this little piece of paradise.
As you might have noticed I LOVED my holiday at Amani Tiwi, however lets hear it from the old grumpy guy. Mortens Review of Amani Tiwi:
We had a wonderful peaceful vacation at Amani. The surroundin
The Amani resort is placed well away from the busy buzz of busier resorts and as such offers a unique sense of privacy and serene peace. There are plenty of activities
On top of the charming surroundin

- 10000Brew Bistro, Westlands, is every city natives' dream. It is modern, sleek and superbly designed. Located on the roof top of Fortis Towers, Brew Bistro offers sweeping views of Nairobi's skyline. The entrance while small, immediately opens up to the main restaurant; but of obvious worthy note is how ingenious…
