Mamba village is a crocodille park in Karen near Nairobi.
Mamba is kiswahili for crocodille. And crocodilles are exactly what you will meet in the mamba village in Karen outside Nairobi in Kenya. The park is layed out in spacious surroundings round a big lake with a variety of recreational offers, aside from playing with the mambas.
The main attraction of mamba village is of course the impressive collection of huge, primarily Kenyan, crocodilles of various sorts. Each pack has its own generously sized enclosure with a king and all his subordinates living under the guiddance of highly qualified local keepers.
Several knowledgeable guides are ready to take you on a tour and explain everything regarding the park, however the uncontested highlight of the day is the feeding of the crocodilles. These majestic animals will fight and tumble over the huge pieces of fish thrown in their enclosures. Dramatic scenes unfold as these magnificent predators hunt down their dinner and battle for the best pieces of fish. Even if the feeding time isnt right around the corner it is most certainly worth waiting for.
Aside from the grown crocodilles several enclosures contain baby and youth crocs, that you can even hold and pet if you dare. These little crocodilles still have a mouth full of razor sharp teeth each and they would love a munch on your hand – so you better hold on.
Next to the baby crocodilles it gets much more peaceful as a tribe of old tortoises roam their private little jungle. Yet again you can hold and talk to them – or simply enjoy the thought that some of them are over a 100 years old and still going strong.
Outside the actual crocodille enclosure you can stroll round the Africa shaped lake or borrow a rowing boat and go sailing. The lake is supposed to be surrounded by all the African countries, but the concept hasnt quite been developed yet. Though you will find a variety of other animals roaming around the walk such as rideable ponies, camels and ostriches.
If its time to rest and eat, the mamba village caters for your needs with a nice restaurant by the lake. The atmosphere is excellent and a huge African buffet of yummy dishes is served inside or out in the huge garden. The prices in the restaurant are extremely high sadly, but the food is good and youre welcome to simply sit and have a refreshing drink before continuing your explorations of the park.
Mamba village is a fun day out – who doesnt want to say they have held a real live crocodille or seen the crocodille king beat some young hopeful croc lad to get the best piece of meat. Take your family or friends and have a nice afternoon at mamba village which is easily reached from Nairobi in the nice surroundings of the Karen neighborhood.
