The Karen Blixen House. The original farm house of Karen Blixen near Nairobi
Being Danish i ventured to the home of Karen Blixen with high expectations of the legendary accomplishments of my fellow Dane. The well preserved farmhouse is located on the outskirts of Nairobi, Kenya in the high-end area named Karen (after Blixen obviously). The farm itself is preserved as it looked back when Karen Blixen inhabited it and as such an interesting historical odyssey.

Visiting the Karen Blixen farm on a warm afternoon with a picnic basket might add an extra pleasure to the trip, as it is located in idyllic surroundings of grand grass lanes and forests.
But, the Karen Blixens house … after taking the tour, hearing all about her life and reading the blurbs we we´re slightly baffled … she had a farm, she was middle of the road in literary terms, she wanted to break the taboo of writing under her own name but never did, she wanted to open a female college but never did – and then she went home … what is so special about her?
Thanks for the support and remember y’all, #LoveLife
