Hamburger restaurants are becoming quite popular in Nairobi. One of my favorites is Urban Gourmet. During Nairobi Restaurant Week, i decided to take advantage of the ongoing promotion and have myself a relatively cheap three course meal.
The decor and lighting are upmarket giving a retro laid-back feel, coupled with a sporty bar ambiance.
So what’s on the menu? For one, new additions of Asian and Caribbean burgers made from 100% prime beef. Smoked meats including beef fillet, prawns, lamb chops and chicken are also on the menu. I had the beef burger topped with fried bacon served with fries, coleslaw and homemade pickles.
The burger was delicious and perfectly cooked, it did not disappoint. The bacon was nicely charred and it added a smokey flavour to the well cooked meaty burger. The cheese was perfectly melted and the fresh pineapple slice was juicy, sweet and flavourful.
The best part though was dessert: that chocolate fudge cake came out still warm and it literally melted in my mouth, just like the ice cream *wink*. I loved it!
